Plans revealed for pay-as-you-go lanes on the hard shoulder to beat motorway jams

Perpetual roadbuilding continues unabated to satisfy motorists'
insatiable wander lust.

"Motorists face pay-as-you-drive road tolls under plans to create
'Lexus Lanes' across England.

They will pay around £5 a time to queue-jump motorway jams using
American-style pay lanes.

Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly yesterday set out plans for dozens of
motorway widening schemes that involve building an extra lane or
getting drivers to use the hard shoulder..."
