"John Rowland" <johnr@journeyflow.spamspam.demon.co.uk> gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying: >> So the CRIMINAL eco-mentalists decided to make a protest about >> pollution by flattening car tyres? What a fucking braindead thing to >> do. So not only are there now going to be up to 128 tyres which will >> needlessly need to be replaced and added to the scrap tyre mountain, >> there's all the needless pollution caused from recovering and >> transporting these vehicles. > Surely the tyres will only need to be pumped up again. No. The sidewalls will almost certainly have sustained damage from having the full weight of the car sat on them via two small points of contact from the rims. Where you've got a heavy, high-performance vehicle, you really don't fuck about with the tyres - a blow-out at speed is not going to be pleasant at all, and could easily be fatal. Not just, of course, for the occupants. In addition, of course, they may not simply pump up. If the foreign object inserted into the valve has damaged the core, it will probably need to be replaced, perhaps the whole valve stem - which requires the tyre to be removed from the rim.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
