Intermittant short?

Phone goes dead, no dial tone , no sound at all. Disconnect lead and plug
into the master socket , the same, try another phone - the same.
Contact neighbour, sharing the same pole and no proiblem with his.
Go to public phone and dial the number and I think the message was "line is
unavailable" not engaged or invalid message anyway.
Call 151 and autotest that "says" the line is engaged , cannot continue with
the test.
Try 100 and she retests the line and seems ok.
Try dialling the phone from that public phone again and indeed "ringing"
Fine since but is it the sort of fault that will return?
