Topfield 5800. Has worked well since I got it when they first arrived in the UK. No TAPs. Latest firmware update from www.toppy.org.uk (the one that does series linking). Got home from work today and it was 'on', but not recording anything. Seemed a little strange but I thought I must have left it on by accident, so I hit the red button on the remote control to turn it off, then went away and did other things. Later I came back, turned it on, and looked at the saved recordings for something I wanted to watch. Everything's gone. All saved recordings, all MP3s, gone, as if I had used the menu item that reformats the hard disk. The amount of space it showed as free was correct for an empty disk. I turned it off, unplugged it, then turned it back on again and it acted quite normal: didn't check the hard disk for errors, just turned straight on again. Since then I've recorded three programmes and it's acting perfectly normal. It was tuned to the channel I watched last thing last night. The channel settings were still there. My schedule of things to record was intact (and it did record one later when it rolled around). So either I wiped them in my sleep, or someone broke into my flat, deleted all the recordings, and left, or the toppy wiped them all itself. Maybe it just doesn't like my taste. I'm annoyed about it, of course, and there were some recordings from Glastonbury I'm never going to be able to get again, but I have to admit that I didn't lose anything of earth-shattering importance. What's most annoying is that I've had so little trouble with it before that it never occurred to me to back up copies of my favourite stuff. Still, anyone else had this happen to them ? Or heard of someone who did ? Simon. -- http://www.hearsay.demon.co.uk[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
