Hi We've been having a few problems with our Sky+ box which is well out of warranty and I wonder if you can advise? After several recordings "skipping" with loss of sound intermittently, the box simply switched itself off (standby) on Saturday night whilst recording two programmes and while we were watching a previously recorded film. After about 5 minutes it came back on and carried on recording both programmes. However on checking it the recordings were only saved from when the box had powered back on. These recordings carried on well past the actual end of both shows and couldn't be manually switched off. In fact we ended up unplugging the box to stop it. When the box came back on we checked the previous recordings and found most of them played, but with the intermittent skipping / sound problems. At this point we did a system tidy, which had no obvious effect. We then deleted everything from the planner and did a full system reset. This seems to have cured the problem for the moment, but talking to a colleague he advises that he had similar recurring problems and eventually the box just died and he had to get another from Sky (following a call out the box was replaced with a refurbished one). Is there anything we can do to avoid this, or if the worst should happen what is the best deal to go for with Sky? Is threatening to switch to cable likely to prompt a reduced cost or free call out? Alternatively are there any deals to be had if we switch to HD, which I quite fancy but can't really justify the extra £10 a month on top of the expense of the box / install. Thanks Dave[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
