Since this is about F connectors here's a funny I came across. A DAB tuner
where the F socket aerial input (male) had a square cut end rather than
the usual taper. And one of the makes of plugs I have wouldn't tighten
properly. The nut 'bottomed out' on the male without clamping the body
which would still turn freely. Same with another of the same make. Luckily
the second make I have was fine. Both types work ok on ones with a taper.
