With only Kempton on TV the C4 pundits had time to chat. How does rain affect the AW surface DT asked. He was told that rain compacts the surface and makes it like Good to Firm going on Turf. Dry weather makes the surface loose and like soft ground..... I did not know that before as I usually ignore the sandy courses. After hearing that the first race was a 2YO track record when I had layed the winner. In the next race they said that the one I had backed Hattan was in his coat. Fortunatly for me he ran out of his skin after I got 24's:-) Derek.
