Luke McCormick jailed

So professional footballer (goalkeeper) Luke McCormick has been jailed for
seven years for driving along the M6 at twice the legal limit of alcohol and
killing two young boys. It's digusting - seven years! Seven years! I find
such a sentence nothing short of an insult. I know we are guilty on these
NG's sometimes of levity, but this is ridiculous. He gets into a car,
knowing full well that he is incapable of driving due to alcohol
consumption, and drives along a busy motorway, ploughing into a car and
killing two young children.

One of the photos of these young children shows one of them wearing a
Manchester United shirt. Surely this should have been taken into
consideration by the jury. One of the children was a Manchester United fan,
for Christ's sake! Seven years!? Surely Community Service would have been
enough for young Luke. You have to feel for the lad, especially given the
fact that, in wiping out a young Scummer, he has done the world a favour.

It's one less bum on a seat at Old Trafford. That's the way I see it. Cruel,
maybe; but a fact nonetheless.

It's time the legal system in this country got its priorities right. If he
were a decent, world class goalkeeper, surely Manchester United would come
along, offer him a lucrative contract, pay all his legal fees and see to it
that these little lives weren't lost in vain.

Our prayers are with young Luke McCormick. May his time at Her Majesty's
pleasure be easy and trouble-free.
