I saw for the first time last night one of FGW's reformed sets which includes the newly-converted Coach F micro-buffet.. [Time was I would have known all about things like this, but I'd forgotten, or maybe never know, about it and so the sight took me by surprise. ] How long have they been around? Seems like a very sensible develpment - gives almost a full extra coach of Standard seats - a 2+8 set now has almost 6 full Standard vehicles - with the loss of just a few of the least attractive and least used First Class seats. Obviously the kitchen facilities are gone too - but these are scarcely used nowadays given trainloads of laptop slaves and mobile junkies - and presumably some sets will retain the old buffets to cater for what's left of the travelling leisured classes.. A vast improvement over the absurd idea of providing e a static trolley in the converted toilets in the Quiet Coach [Quiet Coach, note!]. I wonder whether, having deprived a whole coach of the only such facilities in favour of a service almost never provided, they'll now re-convert them.. -- Walter Mann[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
