At the top of page 37 of this month's Rail Express there is a photo of green 56303 near Allington Junction. Looking at the trackwork, it appears that both roads are laid with fishplate-jointed flat-bottom rail in lengths of around 20m(?). On the Boston side, the rail is secured using chairs and keys, while, on the other, a claw clip system is used (fairly common, but I can't recall what type). I think the sleepers on the chaired side may of concrete (they seem to dip in the middle), while on the clipped side they appear to be of timber. I had no idea such a range of constructions existed. It would surely make an interesting modelling feature. Geoff[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
