The change in service at nuneaton is a mess. having London Midland
(LM) instead of Virgin has good and bad sides but what we are getting
is Virgin for part of the day, then london Midlands and then virgin
after 6Pm/9Pm. For many trips this will mean going on one and coming
back on another. We are not going to get the best fares. It seems LM
were only allowed to run when Virgin does not.

One problem is the London Midland service has to fit round the Virgin
one so we will have 10 minute waits in Northampton and Stafford. The
DfT said there would be enough demain just post rush hour to have the
Liverpool to Euston stop at around 10AM in Nuneaton. This would have
given a quick and cheap way to get to Euston for 11AM and have a
useful day in London. Virgin Blocked this for operational reasions but
that very train will stop on a Saturday morning.

LM could offer us a not too bad alternatiive but seem to be not
allowed to. A direct fast service even every 3 hours would be good but
the Virgin and DfT do not wish the moderation of Compertition to end
on the Trent valley even though we have 12 hours wihout a Virgin Train
in each diection. We are very keen that open access operators are
allowed to serve Nuneaton. We are well connected and currently are the
3rd biggest interchange in the West Midlands.
