It's another example of the Government being out of touch and not
listening.

This is marginal country; the constituencies around the Nuneaton
catchment area are of the sort that will decide the next election.

It is extremely careless for an already unpopular Government to piss
off potential voters in this way.

You need to understand this has played very badly locally.

No doubt this is the message those local politicians will be ramming
home to Ruth Kelly.

I predict yet another messy climb down with all the very worst
logistical problems that will result

Nuneaton has a population of 70,000 which is the same as the whole
county of Lincoln perhaps the DfT should have spotted the difference –
it’s basic stuff really.

This is what happens when planners, like more than a few that post
here (Lincoln 125mph service good idea, Nuneaton 125mph service bad
idea??????), lose sight of the little picture.
