Probably because the sets are only diagrammed into the sheds when
needed.  The intensive diagrams they work means that after off loading
their passengers at Paddington, they don't have time (or the path I
suspect) to pop over to Old Oak Common for a top up.  Most turn-
arounds in Paddington seem to be around 20-25 minutes?

Also, I believe that the fuel is piped to the depots (that's why the
tanker driver strike of a few years ago had no effect on the trains)
also I believe they use "red" diesel.
