Yes, Aloys Wobben is unhappy with some financial decisions by the German government, and questions the profitability of going offshore under the given conditions. Guarantee prices for wind energy are already several cents lower than in Britain, and will sink further. The German government considers wind energy mature technology, and spends tons of money on solar energy instead. Wobben pointed out, in his sometimes not very diplomatic ways, that investors for the first steps offshore might be quite difficult to find. In addition, Enercon can't deliver as fast as the orders pour in, from all over the world. They expect to do 70 - 80% exports in future. > Please note I am not against wind power as part of an overall > solution, but the claims made about it's efficiency and capability are > often exagerrated. Oh, you draw your conclusions from one installation out of ... how many tenthousands? Now that's what I call alternative statistics! > There used to be five. Enercon delivers since the 1980s, and installed product No. 10000 in Dec 1996. With far more than 10000 installed since the 80s, it's quite easy to check claims. At least, Mr. Wobben would be pleased to notice, that you consider gearless wind rotors new technology. Enercon delivers without gearbox since 1993.
