M3 type question Please...

I know I will regret asking this but here goes..

Just spoke to a station in Italy, his call ended in /5 ..... ah forget it, I
just heard the station explain to someone else. His call was IK2 but he was
at a secondary place so that explains the /5. I didn't remember anything
like this in any of the RSGB FL/IL/IF books... :o(
