The penny has just dropped! We were given our jabs by Eddie, the Clinical Trials Nurse/Manager, not one of the normal practice nurses. http://www.pulteney.co.uk/staff.aspx?n=1&p=L81068 The practice has a small section that carries out clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies using volunteer patients. (Lucrative I guess!). In this case GlaxoSmithKline wanted immediate info on any reactions to the vaccine from cross-section of patients. SWMBO had volunteered us during a previous routine visit, which meant we got the vaccine earlier than otherwise. I should add that the priority groups are not compromised. They are getting the vaccine from the normal practice nurses. Some years ago, my wife had a problem that needed anti-biotics and was asked by the clinical trials nurse if she would try out a new one. The company concerned paid for an immediate health check from a local private hospital, which discovered that she had Cardiomyopathy which if left untreated could have been fatal. We have been willing participants in clinical trials ever since :-) -- Harold MEPIS Linux[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
