Today we took Fevric Junior and Fevrica to look at dolphins and elephants. I've always been ambivalent about zoos, but I guess that as long as they are well run, they do more good than harm. It's all very well Junior having a toy elephant in his bed, and pictures of elephants in his books, but it's not going to come anywhere near the physical experience of a blast of hot air from a real live elephant's trunk. Like all zoos, the one in BigCity stresses how dedicated they are to research blah blah, but some of the big cats did seem to be living in very small cages. And some of the monkeys looked pretty pissed off. At least they don't have a polar bear - that *would* be cruel. (T-shirt weather, today). OTOH I find it almost impossible to believe that the dolphins don't actually enjoy putting on their show.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
