Take a moment midway through your day to look at the real and the imaginary with S.L. Newman. Dead Man on a Strangers Grave An alien in a land unknown A victim of imagination Covered in sand from the beach Not such a coincidence Serenely bright summer and sun His eighteenth year had just begun Step by step I follow him Smashing through the burning sun You alone I seem to hear Silent movie it’s not fair Thinking to myself blue sky Sweet dreams far, far and wide Between two rows of rocks you stand Free flowing hair covered in sand What is the name of your native place? Romance of the border is in fact a fake Moons eye clear sky twist of fiction Strange brain-dead crucifiction Irresistible call, your heart, your word Celebrate the nature of life on earth Here, Newman evokes a more personal journey. It is basically a conversation between the poet and her ideal man. True love can only be felt with ones heart. With only the sea by her side, she witnesses the steady erosion of her efforts and learns it's just another hallucination, a daydream. We are at once captivated and grieved as we glide further toward a premonition of dissolution and departure. It is but a supernatural romance. Now that her love has turned illusory under the blue sky, she does not seek a peaceful "death." Her lust for adventure and survival uplifts us. She is careful to acheive an emotional effect by commanding her love to listen and to celebrate life. This is both sublime and at the same time regenerative. It will be interesting to see how her poetry evolves. S. L. Newman is an emerging American Poet. She travels widely, winters in Southern California, and loves mountain biking.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
