Jacqui Smith: People should stand up to knife criminals

I can't see how the home secretary can have said this without any
qualifying remarks regarding exactly what people should and shouldn't do.
It is well known that knife attacks are extremely dangerous and about the
only way you are going to come off better in one is if you have got a gun
or are an expert in the use of a larger weapon such as a sword and you
happen to be carrying one of those (not and not). Methinks the home
secretary or The Telegraph is crazy.
