A man dying of an Aids-related illness requests that he be allowed to
spend his final days at his grandmother's home in the Irish

However, his decision causes problems within the family, particularly
with his mother, who's struggling to come to terms with the stark
facts of her son's sexuality and imminent death.

Ang Lee won an Oscar for his direction of this critically-acclaimed
drama, which charts the heartbreaking, doomed relationship of two
cowboys in Sixties Wyoming.

Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger were both nominated for
Academy Awards for their measured performances, subtly depicting the
sadness of the situation, as society deems their homosexual
relationship unacceptable.

Strong performances from the supporting cast, which includes Michelle
Williams, Linda Cardellini and Anna Faris, add to the poignancy of
this epic tale, based on a short story by E Annie Proulx
